On Nov 8, 2016, the Central Policy Unit (CPU) of the Government of the HKSAR and the National Academy of Economic Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) jointly held the “International Forum on China's Economy and Policy 2016” (Forum) at the Central Government Offices, Tamar, Hong Kong. Fung Business Intelligence was the co-organiser.
This year’s theme was “China’s Economy under the National 13th Five-Year Plan and Supply-side Reform – Hong Kong’s Challenges and Opportunities”. The Forum began with welcoming remarks from Mr. Shiu Sin Por, Head of CPU and Professor WANG Wei-guang, President of CASS. Keynote speakers on the day include Dr. Victor Fung, Chairman of Fung Group and Professor Gao Pei-yong, Director of National Academy of Economic Strategy, CASS.
To echo with the theme of the Forum, Dr. Victor Fung gave a speech on the macro-prospective of Hong Kong’s development in the 13th Five-Year Plan Period, in which he shared his views on the growth of innovation in Hong Kong and how this has become the leading driving force for economic and social development.
Mr. Chang Ka Mun, Managing Director of Fung Business Intelligence, moderated a discussion session with Professor Ba Shu-song, Chief China Economist of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, and other experts from CASS and the National Development and Reform Commission, on “The National 13th Five-Year Plan and Supply-side Reform”.
About 300 participants attended the Forum, including experts, scholars, and representatives of overseas institutions in Hong Kong, and guests from think tanks, business sector, professional bodies and local & foreign chambers of commerce.
